Randall Jeppesen reportingIt's Friday, which means a few days off of work for most of us. But that's not the case for the Utah National Guard troops deployed at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The week has been filled with hard work and heat and the occasional spotting of someone trying to get across the border.
Cpt. Talon Greeff: "He was leaning over the fence apparently talking into his cell phone while he was watching us work. Dropped his phone and started pointing at it, expecting us to pick it up for him."
Cpt. Talon Greeff said they didn't return the man's phone. They've also seen another family waiting in some bushes near the border. However, they aren't actively looking for border crossers.
Cody Slaugh, combat medic: "We're prepared to handle any kind of trauma casualties we may experience."
But so for he's just been busy getting people water to drink.
