KEARNS — Police arrested an 18-year-old man and searched for another person after attempted beer thefts and a car crash.

Two men tried to steal beer from two 7-Eleven stores early Friday morning, according to Lt. John Barker of the Unified Police Department. An officer caught up with their car around 12:45 a.m. and tried to pull them over, but they drove away.

Shortly after that, the fleeing car crashed into a parked truck.

“As we pulled up we saw two male occupants run. A canine unit located (one suspect) in a backyard. He is currently being transported to Salt Lake County Jail,” Barker said.

Police were still looking for the other person Friday morning.

The name of the arrested man was not immediately available.
