SALT LAKE CITY — In an effort to showcase Utah's roads, Sen. Mike Lee has decided to sponsor a photo contest.
Utah has over 43,000 miles of public roads, according to the United States Road Assessment Program. The roads pass through beautiful landscapes and connect communities throughout the state.
Lee announced Monday that he would like to showcase a collection of Utah's roads in his Washington, D.C., office and so he has started a photo contest to gather the collection of pictures. The photo contest is open to anyone. The pictures can be posted to Instagram and tagged with the hashtag #RoadLessTraveledUtah.
Representatives from Lee's office will select up to 28 photos that will be displayed in Lee's office. The individuals who submit the top three photos that receive the most "likes" on Instagram will also receive a flag that has flown at the U.S. Capitol.
However, there are several rules for participants of the contest. Here are the basic rules:
- Be safe. Pictures taken by drivers while driving will not be considered.
- The photo has to contain a road in Utah.
- Only one photo per person can be submitted for the contest. Multiple photos will be selected for the display, but only one photo per person will be selected.
- For communication purposes, contestants must be following @SenMikeLee and @Utahgram on Instagram.
