LAS VEGAS (AP) — Opening statements begin today in Las Vegas in the trial of a former Cirque du Soleil (sihrk doo soh-LAY') performer accused of killing and dismembering a dancer in the Luxor hotel-casino's "Fantasy" revue. Jason Griffith has pleaded not guilty to charges that could get him life in prison. His lawyers say he was defending himself when 31-year-old Deborah Flores Narvaez died in December 2010.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say they've arrested two men accused of trying to carjack a man and killing him in the process. Authorities say they've arrested 20-year-old Henderson resident Julio Renteria and 22-year-old Las Vegas resident Adrian McClintock on charges including murder. Police say they found 26-year-old Dylan Salazar shot dead inside his truck Tuesday morning.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say they've arrested a 43-year-old man suspected of killing his grandfather in Las Vegas. Police say Steven Woodard was arrested without incident. Woodard's grandfather was found dead Tuesday morning at a home on Cottonwood Place, several miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Public Utilities Commission wants staff and visitors to forgo perfume and other synthetic fragrances. The agency issued a notice asking the public to refrain from wearing scented personal care products as a courtesy to people who are sensitive to chemical fragrances. The notices will also be included on all PUC notices of consumer hearings.
