Sandra Yi ReportingA pilot made a crash landing this afternoon at Airport Number 2 in West Jordan.
The pilot was practicing touch-and-go landings today. At around 1:30, the pilot was landing the plane when it flipped off the runway, landed upside down and came to a stop.
Marc Mcelreath, Battalion Chief, West Jordan Fire Dept.: "The plane sustained quite a bit of damage to the front and the wings of it. Like you said, it is upside down. As far as airplanes go, I'd say it's substantial damage to it."
The airport is now open again. The pilot was the only person on board; he was not injured. The is a single engine piper aircraft.
Airport officials say the pilot never radioed about having any trouble. They don't know what caused the crash.
