GRIFFITH, Ind. (AP) — Police say one person has died after a shooting in the parking lot of a school in northwestern Indiana.
The Griffith Police Department says the shooting was reported about 4:30 p.m. CDT Monday in the parking lot of St. Mary's School and officers found one person dead.
The department says in a news release that a suspect who was related to the victim was taken into custody. It says the shooting was an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
Police say the name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of relatives. A message seeking additional details was left with a Griffith police detective.
It wasn't immediately clear if any children were at the school at the time.
