ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — Many people are feared dead in an explosion that ripped through a busy commuter bus station today near Nigeria's capital, Abuja. The blast blew a hole 4 feet deep in the ground in an area where taxis pick up passengers. Secondary explosions were set off when vehicle fuel tanks ignited and burned. There's been no claim of responsibility, but Islamic extremists have been threatening to attack parts of the country.

DONETSK, Ukraine (AP) — Pro-Russian separatists have seized a police building in yet another city in Russian-leaning eastern Ukraine. They're defying government warnings that it's preparing to act against the insurgents. Dozens of angry men hurled rocks, smashed the windows and broke into a police station in the city of Horlivka not far from the border with Russia. Meanwhile, the Interfax news agency is reporting that an anti-terrorist operation is underway in the Donetsk region.

PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) — The judge in the murder trial of South African Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius has temporarily adjourned proceedings today after Pistorius started to sob while testifying about the moments before he killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his home last year. Under cross-examination, Pistorius said he thought there was an intruder in his house and that he screamed. As he testified, he began to wail. The prosecution says Pistorius is lying.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) — The family of a doctor and his 14-year-old grandson say they were two of three people killed Sunday when a man opened fire outside a Jewish community center and a Jewish retirement complex. Authorities have behind bars a 73-year-old man identified as Frazier Glenn Cross, a former Ku Klux Klan leader who had once been the subject of a nationwide manhunt.

PARIS (AP) — Male students and staff at a high school in western France are being asked to give DNA samples as police search for an attacker who raped a teenage girl. Summonses have gone out to 527 students, teachers and others on campus during the attack. Prosecutors expect the testing to last until Wednesday. The 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted Sept. 30 in a dark bathroom. Police recovered genetic material from the girl's clothing, but it doesn't match anyone in the national DNA database.
