CARSON, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Galaxy loaned Robbie Rogers to their Galaxy II team for a USL Pro game against Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday night.

Rogers is recovering from a left ankle injury. Last year, the former U.S. national team forward became the first openly gay male athlete to play in a U.S. professional league when he made his debut for Los Angeles.

The MLS team said Friday that it also loaned Kyle Venter, Brian Rowe and Chandler Hoffman to Galaxy II.
