SALT LAKE CITY — A teen was hit and killed by a vehicle while he was skating Friday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m., a male teenager was skateboarding westbound on Yale Avenue and crossing 1300 East when he was hit by a vehicle heading northbound, according to Salt Lake City Police Detective Veronica Montoya. The teen succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
The teen was heading down a hill at the time of the incident, but it is unclear if he was in a crosswalk.
The area of 1300 East and Harvard Avenue was closed until about 7 p.m.
The victim has not yet been identified pending the notification of family and more information will be posted as it becomes available.
