UnitedHealthcare and Nebraska 4-Hers partnered together to lead healthy smoothie “Blender Bike” demonstrations where they taught attendees how to make healthy smoothies. The youth had to burn some calories to make their smoothies and pedal on stationary bikes donated by UnitedHealthcare that were equipped with specially installed pedal-powered smoothie blenders.

The fun activity is part of an ongoing partnership with UnitedHealthcare and Nebraska 4-H to promote healthy, active lifestyles through education, training and special events in communities throughout the state. More than 1,300 youth from across Nebraska participated in making their own smoothies and learned about calories, serving sizes and tips for maintaining active lifestyles through better food choices, fitness and other hands-on learning activities.

The “Eat4-Health” partnership is funded through a $30,000 grant by UnitedHealthcare to Nebraska 4-H.
