SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A woman who has spent nearly 20 years at the Denver Public Library is the new director of the Salt Lake City Library System.
Beth Elder was picked Tuesday by the library's board of directors. She starts April 28.
Elder joined the Denver library in 1989 as a children's collection specialist. Her most recent job has been director of planning.
She was one of three finalists in the search for a successor to Nancy Tessman, who retired last year.
Besides the main downtown library, Salt Lake City has five branches.
