Nishi Gupta reportingWest-side, east-side; you've heard it before. It's a common way to describe neighborhoods in the Salt Lake Valley.
West-side usually seems to carry a negative connotation with it -- but one of those neighborhoods recieved a recent make-over, and it's ready to be seen in a positive light.
People who live in the Guadalupe area of Salt Lake City say they've gotten a bad rap, their neighborhood- a bad reputation. After getting help to improve the area, they're beaming with west-side pride.

Anita Murillo, Guadalupe Resident: "I've have been living in this neighborhood since 1932"
The Guadalupe neighborhood, a place some used to describe simply as the "area by the tracks", is still by the tracks, but now, has a whole new look.
From 500 to 1100 West, and North Temple, to 600 North- this area became a focal point for Salt Lake Housing Services - a private group that works to improve neighborhood conditions. It says over the last decade, more than 30 million dollars have poured in to revitalize this part of town.
Long-time residents have seen their beloved Guadalupe go through decades of changes, but the changes over the last year, they welcome with open arms.
Anita Murillo, 74 year resident: "We have a lot of nice sidewalks...and a lot of new buildings."
Bob Martines, 58 year resident: "You see this...nice warm feelings...it's great!"
And residents aren't the only ones that are taking notice.
Scott, Business Owner: "This neighborhood's really coming back...a little jewel that people will now know about"
This local businessman recently bought a building complex in the area. About a year ago, he happened to drive by the area, and saw neighborhood charm that he'd never seen before.
This is how much attention this area is getting: He says in the last 6 months, he's rented out space to dozens of businesses- businesses like a restaurant and several classic car restoration shops.
Both business owners and residents expect more great things of the Guadalupe neighborhood.
