OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Ogden's finance manager says the city could face an $800,000 revenue shortfall as the result of a slowing national economy.
John Arrington says that prediction is based on early indicators. He says the city was counting on about $15.5 million in tax revenue during fiscal 2008, but it looks like the total will be close to $14.7 million when the year wraps up June 30.
Arrington says concerns about a sluggish economy have affected consumer spending. He's recommending that the city use some of the $1.2 million left over from fiscal 2007 to cover the loss. He says that's preferable to cutting funding to city departments.
