(KSL News) -- A convenience store thief had a hard time escaping from the scene of the crime this morning.
A store clerk saw George King stuffing his pockets at the Miniature Market on 33rd south, so she confronted him. King tried to run, but the sliding doors knocked him down.
Dee Tuia, Store Clerk: "He got slapped by the doors. And then after that I grabbed him and he turned and swung at me and hit me in the chest. And I yanked him to the floor and like grabbed him toward me. And then he got back up and I thought he was going to hit me again so I backed off."
King then tried to dash across the parking lot, but he didn't get far.
Cpt. Tracy Tetingey, South Salt Lake Police: "He was struck by a truck. It knocked him to the ground. He got up, fled again across 3300 south when he was struck by the red minivan. "
King got back up again and ran, but police finally caught up with him. Police charged King with robbery. Amazingly, he was not injured.
