National League of Cities to Hold Press Conference to Announce a New

Report on Infrastructure and Jobs

WASHINGTON, March 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- National League

of Cities' (NLC) will hold a press conference Tuesday, March 11 at

10:00 a.m. to announce a new infrastructure report at the

organization's annual Congressional City Conference in Washington.

More than 1,500 city officials and local elected leaders have convened

for the conference to focus on and advocate for the federal policy

issues that are important to local governments.

Who: Keynote speaker Gov. Ed Rendell, former Governor of Pennsylvania

will be joined by Ralph Becker, Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah; Chris

Coleman, Mayor of Saint Paul, Minn.; Mick Cornett, Mayor of Oklahoma

City, Okla.; Scott Smith, Mayor of Mesa, Ariz.; Michael Mandel, PPI

Chief Economic Strategist; and Diana Carew, PPI Economist.

At the afternoon general session, Gwen Ifill, co-anchor and managing

editor, Washington Week and co-anchor and managing editor of The PBS

NEWSHOUR with Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff will deliver a keynote,

"Politics, Policy and Reality: What's Really Going On in Washington."

Also speaking is Alejandro Mayorkas, deputy secretary of Homeland

Security, to discuss security and federal partnerships with cities.

What: The Progressive Policy Institute (PPI), the National League of

Cities and Building America's Future will host a panel of experts to

comment on the necessity for investment in infrastructure. PPI will

also release a new report entitled, "Infrastructure Investment and

Economic Growth: Surveying New Post-Crisis Evidence" on this topic,

and offer recommendations to policymakers to stimulate economic

growth.

a.m. General session: 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
