NEW YORK (AP) — Seton Hall senior guard Fuquan Edwin is the Big East's defensive player of the year while Marquette junior forward Davante Gardner is the conference's sixth man of the year for a second straight season.

Villanova teammates Darrun Hilliard and Daniel Ochefu are co-winners of the most improved player of the year award and Marquette redshirt senior Chris Otule has won the sportsmanship award.

The league announced the winners, who were selected by the coaches, Monday. The player and coach of the year will be announced Wednesday when the conference tournament begins.
