LOS ANGELES (AP) — The military pilot killed in a fighter jet crash during a training exercise in Nevada has been identified as 32-year-old Marine Capt. Reid Nannen. Nannen died when the F/A-18C went down March 1 on a Navy range training complex east of Naval Air Station Fallon. The Marine jet was on loan to the naval station. The Hopedale, Ill., native was a student at the TopGun school there.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas tour guide who died in an accident at Valley of Fire State Park northeast of Las Vegas has been identified as 72-year-old Sharlene Cruz. The Clark County Coroner's Office says the cause of death was asphyxia. Investigators say she was pinned between large rock formation and an SUV.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Henderson man has been sentenced to life in prison for the beating death of his 88-year-old mother. Sarah Kravetz was taken to the hospital in November 2009 with a head wound and died weeks later. Richard Kravetz told investigators that she fell. According to court documents, his mother lived long enough to tell her other son, Russell Taylor, that Richard Kravetz beat her.

MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — A Zephyr Cove woman was being held in the Douglas County Jail on a charge of open murder in the Feb. 23 shooting of her 64-year-old husband, Harold Leibel. Court documents say Tatiana Leibel argued with her husband over a trip she wanted to take to Southern California to visit her daughter before he was shot and killed.
