GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (AP) — Brian Voelkel recorded a triple-double, 10 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists, in top-seeded Vermont's 77-60 victory over No. 8 New Hampshire on Saturday in the America East tournament quarterfinals.
His feat was a first in America East tournament history.
Regular season champion Vermont (22-9) was led by Candon Rusin and Clancy Rugg with 15 apiece. Sandro Carissimo and Luke Apfeld had 12 each for the Catamounts.
Vermont has now won 11 straight and 18 of its last 19 games.
New Hampshire (6-24) was paced by Patrick Konan with 19 points. Jordon Bronner had 14 and Daniel Dion 10. The Wildcats were eliminated by Vermont for the second straight year.
Vermont held a 21-5 advantage in second chance points after outrebounding New Hampshire 40-19. The Catamounts made 21 of 27 free throws, while New Hampshire made just 10 of 13.
The Catamounts will play again on Sunday in the semifinals.
