MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — David Brown made 5 of 7 from 3-point range and scored 17 to lead Western Michigan past Central Michigan 78-64 on Friday night.

The Broncos (21-9, 14-4 Mid-American) clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the MAC tournament and at least a share of the conference regular-season title. Should Toledo lose to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, WMU will win the title outright.

Western Michigan trailed 38-33 at halftime, but shot 17 of 21 (81 percent) from the field in the second half. The hot shooting helped a 15-0 run that gave the Broncos the lead for good early in the second.

The Broncos were 9 of 12 from 3-point range and 31 of 45 (68.9 percent) overall. Connar Tava had 15 points, Shayne Whittington and Tucker Haymond scored 14 each.

John Simms led Central Michigan (10-20, 3-15) with 16 points. Chris Fowler scored 15 and Braylon Rayson added 13.
