CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — State agencies won't have to slash their budgets in the next biennium but should focus on priorities and be realistic in their requests.
That was the message Nevada agencies chiefs were given Thursday as planning began for the 2015-2017 fiscal year budget.
During the daylong "budget kickoff," agencies were told Nevada's economy is on the upswing but fiscal restraint is needed. They also were warned not to create huge wish lists of things that cannot be funded.
Administration officials say the next budget will address needs that were neglected during the recession and focus on Gov. Brian Sandoval's legislative initiatives.
