SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — The New York Racing Association plans $8.5 million in upgrades at Saratoga Race Course and two other racetracks.

Historic Saratoga will get $1.9 million for several improvements at the track, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.

NYRA also says it plans to spend $5.9 million for similar improvements at Aqueduct and about $680,000 at Belmont Park.

Plans at Saratoga include the addition of 750 high-definition television sets throughout the track, new large-screen video boards, an enhanced sound system, improved wireless capabilities and a new entertainment area for families.

NYRA pegs Saratoga's annual economic impact at about $200 million across the region. Last summer, more than 860,000 people visited the track during its 40-day meet.
