KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Xavier Munford and E.C. Matthews scored 21 points apiece as Rhode Island defeated Fordham 77-65 on Wednesday.
T.J. Buchanan added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams (14-17, 5-11 Atlantic 10 Conference). Hassan Martin had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Rhode Island outrebounded Fordham 48-38 and blocked 11 of their opponent's shots.
Fordham led 33-31 at the break but Rhode Island surged early in the second with a 17-8 run to lead 48-41 with 12:55 remaining. Then Munford sank four 3-pointers within 10 minutes to extend the Rams' lead to 65-51. Fordham tried to close the gap with a Branden Frazier 3 and a pair of Chris Whitehead jumpers in the final 1:42, but it was not enough.
Frazier led the scoring for Fordham (9-19, 2-13) with 22 points.
The win was the regular-season finale for Rhode Island while Fordham finishes on Saturday against George Washington.
