VIERA, Fla. (AP) — Gio Gonzalez pitched one-hit ball for two innings in his spring training debut, Ian Desmond homered for the second straight day and the Washington Nationals roughed up a New York Mets' split-squad in an 11-5 victory Wednesday.
Outfielder Brian Goodwin hit a two-run homer for Washington, and catcher Sandy Leon connected for a three-run shot and third baseman Matt Skole had a two-run drive in a seven-run eighth inning.
Zach Lutz had two hits including a solo homer in the ninth for the Mets, who also got a two-run single from shortstop Anthony Seratelli.
