CINCINNATI (AP) — Xavier center Matt Stainbrook was on crutches Wednesday — his 22nd birthday — after getting treatment on his injured left knee. He's out for the Musketeers' next game, but hopes to return at tournament time.

Stainbrook strained a ligament in his left knee during the first half of a 71-62 loss at Seton Hall on Monday night. The injury isn't as severe as he initially feared.

The Big East's second-leading rebounder will miss the Musketeers' final regular season game on Thursday against No. 6 Villanova at the Cintas Center.

Stainbrook rode a stationary bicycle on Wednesday as part of his twice-daily therapy to get the knee back into shape. He has a week before the Musketeers play in the Big East tournament.
