LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a man is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Las Vegas late last night. Officers say a man had tried to pass counterfeit money at a 7-11 store, and then ran to a nearby casino. Police say that when they caught up with him, the man pulled a gun. That's when police say they shot him. Capt. Csaba Maczala (CHA'-buh mick-ZAH'-luh) tells KVVU-TV the suspect had a history of attempting "suicide by cop."

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada motorists are being reminded to pay attention to red lights and stop signs. The Nevada Highway Patrol and state Department of Transportation State police are launching a media campaign in hopes of cutting the number of deaths and injuries from intersection crashes. Nevada DOT chief Rudy Malfabon says that, too often, drivers run red lights or stop signs — leading to deadly consequences.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County detectives are investigating the apparent suicide of a Spanish Springs man whose wife has been the target of a search since she was reported missing on Sunday. Sheriff's deputies say Gerald Muhl had been cooperating in an investigation into the disappearance of his wife before he was found dead Monday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His wife, Colleen Muhl, last was seen on Feb. 17.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A new report on Nevada high school students shows 67 percent say they consumed alcohol at least once. Of those, 33 percent drank alcohol in the month before the survey and nearly 18 percent participated in binge drinking. Forty-three percent of students have had sex.
