SALT LAKE CITY — Police are on the hunt for a man and his getaway driver who robbed a 7-Eleven early Thursday while wielding a long gun.

A man entered the store at 480 S. Redwood Road around 2:15 a.m. Thursday, according to Salt Lake police. He went into the store’s restroom carrying a dark blue gym bag, then reappeared with what Salt Lake police detective Veronica Montoya described as a long gun.

The man pointed the weapon at the clerk and demanded cash. She complied and the robber fled.

Police said the man jumped into a mid-‘80s white Chevrolet pickup truck with a gold shell on the back. Another person was driving.

The vehicle was last seen near 500 S.Redwood Road.

The gunman was described as a large adult who appeared to be in his 20s and from the Pacific Islands, about 6 feet tall, according to witness statements. He was wearing a blue shirt with a checkerboard design, blue jeans and a blue stocking cap. The driver of the car was described as a white man with dark curly hair who was wearing a light tan jacket.

Police ask anyone who sees the vehicle to call them.
