CARMEL, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say an employee of a central California golf club owned by Clint Eastwood has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling company funds.

Forty-eight-year-old Neil Bentley Morton of Salinas is the manager at the Tehama Golf Club in the Carmel area.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office says Morton was arrested Saturday afternoon on suspicion of forgery and the theft of $33,622.

The private, invitation-only 18-hole golf course lies between Carmel Valley and the Monterey Peninsula.

Authorities say Morton was booked Saturday into the Monterey County Jail. A security officer at the club said he could not comment on Sunday, and a message left for the business office was not immediately returned.
