(KSL News) After several years on hold, Provo can resume building a road connecting Canyon Road and University Avenue at 4800 North.

The city stopped when the landowners sued after Utah County loaned its condemnation powers to Provo.

The property was on unincorporated county land and the county agreed to let the city condemn the land if it paid the expenses.

A district court denied the motion in September 2004, and the family appealed. The state Supreme Court upheld the lower court.

A positive note from the delay-- engineers believe the delay improved the stability of the road since the dirt has settled.
