VERNAL — Cooperation between police in Vernal and Heber City led to the arrests of two vehicle-burglary suspects and the seizure of $10,000 worth of methamphetamine, authorities said Monday.
Vernal police were investigating a number of vehicle burglary and theft complaints Friday, according to Assistant Vernal Police Chief Keith Campbell. In each case, vehicles had been broken into and credit cards, checkbooks, mail and other personal item had been stolen.
Officers also received a report of a stolen vehicle, Campbell said, but found the car abandoned near the Kmart store in Vernal.
Investigators were able to identify Richard Thomas Mackay Jr. and Jenifer Lynne Glore as suspects in the case, the assistant chief said. They sent out an "attempt-to-locate" bulletin for the pair and their car.
A police officer spotted the car as it entered Heber City heading toward Salt Lake City. He made a traffic stop. Based on the information from Vernal police, Mackay and Glore were taken into custody.
Police obtained a search warrant for the car the pair was driving. Several packages of methamphetamine, with an estimated value of $10,000, were found inside the car, according to investigators.
Mackay, 25, and Glore, 33, have criminal histories for property and drug-related offenses, court records show. Both were booked into the Uintah County Jail for investigation of vehicle theft, theft, vehicle burglary, unlawful use of a financial transaction card and criminal mischief. The pair may also face drug charges.
