ST. GEORGE — A body was discovered near the freeway in St. George Saturday morning.
The body was found around 9 a.m. near the Exit 8 south off-ramp off I-15, said Sgt. Sam Despain of the St. George Police Department.
The call to dispatch was initially a "person down" call made by a passing motorist, Despain said. However, when officers arrived on the scene they reported that the person was "obviously deceased."
Despain said that the deceased is a 22-year-old male. He has been identified, but police are not releasing his name pending notification of the family.
Foul play is not suspected at this time, and investigators are waiting for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, according to Despain.
"Our detectives responded and are investigating," Despain said. "Preliminary investigations reveal nothing suspicious about this death."
