LOGAN (AP) — Preston Medlin led the way with 17 points for Utah State in downing NAIA member San Diego Christian 84-53 on Saturday night.

Kyle Davis and Spencer Butterfield controlled the paint, teaming up for 28 rebounds and adding 26 points for the Aggies.

The Aggies dominated San Diego Christian in the first half, out-muscling the Hawks on the boards 28-8 and pulling down 10 more offensive rebounds while en route to a 39-22 halftime lead. San Diego was able to knock down 5 of 11 three's in the half in preventing an even larger deficit.

Utah State upped their shooting percentage to 50 percent in the second half squashing any Hawk comeback opportunity while winning the rebounding battle 56-17.

Derek Dickerson scored 17 points for San Diego Christion in the loss.

Utah State (10-2) opens conference play in the Mountain West against Air Force on Jan. 1.
