ROY — Two teenagers whom police say were part of a larger group involved in an armed robbery in November have been certified to stand trial as adults.

The teens, who police say got away with $10, a wallet, a cellphone and a bag of marijuana, now face multiple felonies.

Joshua Parley Dutson, 17, and Cooper Vanhuizen, 16, were certified Friday to stand trial in Weber County's 2nd District Court on charges of aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated robbery, all first-degree felonies.

The two join Wesley Brown, Dexter Skinner, and Tomek Perkins, all 18, who were charged with identical crimes in November.

On Nov. 4, Roy police say several people armed with guns went to a house, 5880 S. 2600 West, Roy, and demanded entry by flashing a gun. Once inside, the group held two individuals in the basement at gunpoint demanding drugs and money, according to a court documents.

"The victims received several threats toward their life. The victims were told to stay on the ground and not to tell anyone or they would come back and hurt them," according to a police affidavit.

Investigators started arresting suspects the next day. After a couple were caught, detectives said they gave up the names of others involved.

One of the suspects told police that they had intended to commit six robberies, the affidavit states.
