(KSL News) -- One man is in critical condition this morning after an overnight assault at a restaurant in Taylorsville.

Police say the attack was random and likely sparked by racism.

One man was outside a Dee's Restaurant at 4700 S. Redwood Road early this morning when several men jumped him.

Police say they knocked him to the ground, beat and kicked him. The victim has serious injuries to his head and torso. He was rushed to Cottonwood Hospital, unconcious.

Police say alcohol was involved. They handcuffed and questioned several people at the scene, but later let them go.

Police are still looking for the men who actually assaulted the victim.
