Lance Bandley ReportingAs people plan on barbequing for the holiday weekend, it's important to make sure food is properly cooked to avoid food poison.

"I think that probably undercooking your meats on the grill is something you need to look at," says Salt Lake County Food Protection Supervisor Tom Trevino.

He says most people don't barbeque correctly and it causes a lot of people to be miserable for the weekend.

"If you are cooking a hamburger, you want to get it to 155 degrees Fahrenheit. For a poultry burger, you want to have it at 165 degrees," adds Trevino.

Trevino also says to be careful if you take your raw meat outside on a tray. He says to make sure you wash it before putting the cooked meat back on the tray.
