SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) - A UNESCO inspector has been mugged in the Chilean port city of Valparaiso.

UNESCO said that three unidentified suspects stole Luis Maria Calvo's wallet Thursday night while he strolled through the snaky, narrow streets of Valparaiso after work.

The Argentine architect is part of a mission reviewing the city's status as a world heritage site. Two officials from the national monuments council were with him but UNESCO said they weren't robbed.

Calvo was treated for a hand fracture and the group is now safe. UNESCO said it regretted the incident in a part of the city that has "deteriorated" but that the experts will carry on with their report.
