TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Utah sophomore Dustin Pimm claimed a spot at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships after shooting an even-par 72 in the final round of the NCAA West Regional Saturday. Pimm finished the regional tournament with a 10-under score of 206 in the three-round tournament and finished tied for fifth after leading the field following the first two rounds.

Pimm started his round on No. 10 at Tucson National golf course. He tallied par on the first three holes before shooting a birdie on No. 13. The sophomore completed the back nine holes at even par after tallying a bogey on No. 18. Pimm carded another bogey on No. 2 to sit at one-over par before. He recorded his second birdie of the day on No. 8 - his second-to-last hole -- to finish Saturday's round at even par.

"I played okay the whole tournament," Pimm said after coming off the course Saturday.

Billy Horschel of Florida and Casey Watabu of Nevada tied for first place with a 13-under 203. Arizona and Florida tied for the team title at the West Region Championship. The top 10 teams - which also included Arizona State, Washington, North Carolina State, BYU, Loyola Marymount, East Tennessee State, Pepperdine and Nevada - all qualified for the NCAA Men's Golf Championships.

Pimm and University of Denver's James Love were the two individuals who qualified for the NCAA Championships. The top two individuals not on teams already advancing qualify for the national championship meet. Love fired an eight-under score of 208 and finished tied for 11th.

Pimm will compete at the NCAA Championships, slated for May 31-June 3, at the Crosswater Club at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. Pimm competed at the Crosswater Club during the 2006 MWC Men's Golf Championships, finishing tied for sixth overall with a two-over, three-round total of 218.
