Last-minute changes make TRAX available to RSL fans Sunday

SANDY — The Utah Transit Authority said it would provide postgame transit service after this weekend’s Real Salt Lake playoff game at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Initially, UTA warned soccer fans that there would be no service following Sunday's game. The transit agency had announced Friday on Twitter that "the last-minute scheduling" of the game prevented it from offering TRAX service.

However, UTA officials changed their plans and said trains will serve fans for 30 minutes after the game.

“We had to scramble to arrange personnel to cover shifts due to the short notice of the scheduling of this game,” said UTA spokesman Remi Barron.

Fortunately, the extended service should alleviate some of the potential traffic congestion following the game and give fans more transportation alternatives.

Real Salt Lake knocked off the defending two-time champion L.A. Galaxy Thursday to advance to the Western Conference final.

Second-seeded RSL will face No. 1 seed Portland in the first leg of the West final at 7 p.m. Sunday at Rio Tinto Stadium, 9256 S. State.
