(KSL News) A 30 hour fast turned into a service project for some Utah kids learning about world hunger.
About 100 kids around the valley sorted food and helped feed the homeless today. It was part of a 30 hour famine project designed to teach them what life is like for children in other parts of the world.
Cara Hughes explained, "We're fasting for 30 hours because, like, lots and lots of kids die every day in Africa, well around the world, because they don't have enough to eat."
Matt Whitehead, a youth leader at the Southeast Baptist Church, said, "The fast is so that our students can actually learn what it feels like to not eat for 30 hours. So it kinda helps them go through the whole process and how weak sometimes that feels and how it's hard to think and process."
All together, the kids raised $26,000, which will be donated to the charity World Vision.
