(KSL News) A campground which closed because of the bubonic plague, is back open.

The Natural Bridges National Monument in southeastern Utah shut down for almost three weeks because three dead deer mice tested positive for the disease.

The area was doused with insecticides. Officials are confident any infected fleas are dead. Fleas carry the plague.

No humans were infected.

Interestingly, the Centers for Disease Control says an average of 18 plague cases involving humans are reported every year in America, and about one in seven victims die.
