Andrew Adams reporting The FBI is issuing a warning an e-mail scam involving a "hitman with a heart."
FBI officials say people are being contacted via e-mail by a "hitman" who claims a friend or loved one has paid him to kill you. But the hitman says he won't do the deed if you pay up.
The Salt Lake FBI office says it's seeing this scam make a comeback. It has been around since 2006 but more or less died out.
FBI officials want to remind people to be smart, don't give up your personal information, and definitely don't pay the "hitman" not to kill you. If it's a real hitman, he probably won't negotiate with you.
"They're not going to come out and actually make contact with the victim. They receive quite a bit of money, I'm sure, in their line of work," said FBI Special Agent Juan Becerra.
Officials are also encouraging people to report it to the FBI if this happens to them. You can do so by logging on to www.ic3.gov.
