SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah House doesn't want illegal immigrants buying alcohol or guns with their driving privilege card.

The cards can't be used to board an airplane, and House Bill 171 would further restrict their use.

The bill passed in the House, 70-3, on Monday and next will be heard in the Senate.

Utah began issuing the cards two years ago so illegal immigrants could drive and buy car insurance. A recent audit shows that nearly 35,000 have been issued.
