(KSL News) -- Consumer advocates are urging parents to use caution this summer as they set up inflatable pools.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission launched a new campaign today, aimed at child pool safety. The CPSC says inflatable pools are much cheaper, larger and more dangerous than in years past.
The number of inflatable pool drownings nearly doubled last year. Experts say parents should take extra time and spend extra money to kid proof their pools.
Bill Weber, Association of Pool & Spa Professionals: "It's not inherently unsafe. Accidents, as devastating as they are, are totally preventable."
Experts recommend either placing a locked gate around an inflatable pool, or putting it away when your kids are finished playing.
