(KSL News) -- Letter carriers gathered more than one-million pounds of food in the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday.
Utahns heeded the call for help by placing plastic bags full of non-perishable food in or near their mailboxes. Letter carriers picked up the food and distributed it to local food banks, pantries and shelters throughout the state.
The goal this year was to collect more than the one-million pounds of food collected last year. Officials say that even before the final tally, that mark has easily been passed.
