(KSL News) -- Law enforcement officers from around the state gathered with Latino children today to teach values and leadership.
The Utah chapter of the National Latino Peace Officers Association held its second Annual Youth Conference. The officers and mentor speakers addressed students at the West Precinct of the Salt Lake City Police Department. Officers, lawyers and doctors spoke to kids at the one -day conference.
John Cardona, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "They're gonna talk to them about life choices, mentorship, different avenues, been where they are."
Children who attended today's conference were from junior high and middle schools. Some of the students came from as far away as Park City to attend the event.
They plan to hold the event next year and invite younger kids.
