PRICE — Carbon County prosecutors have charged a Magna man with automobile homicide in connection with a July crash near Scofield Reservoir that killed a Price woman.

In addition to the third-degree felony charge, Alvin Clint Carter was also charged Friday in 7th District Court with driving on a revoked license and failure to maintain control on a canyon road, both class C misdemeanors.

Carter was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the pickup truck he was driving slid off Pondtown Road about 1:45 a.m. July 7, went down a 150-foot embankment and rolled multiple times, according to investigators.

Carter, 27, and Brooke Kristine Tomadakis, 22, were ejected from the truck. Another passenger, 30-year-old Chad Wink of West Jordan, told the Deseret News in July that he was able to crawl out of the truck after it stopped rolling.

Tomadakis died at the scene.

A medical helicopter flew Carter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Wink was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. He suffered broken vertebrae in his neck and back, head injuries and several broken ribs, according to his mother.

Carter's first court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 21.
