NEW YORK (AP) - Jeff Koons' whimsical "Balloon Dog (Orange)" is going to auction Nov. 12 in New York City. The pre-sale estimate is $35 million to $55 million.
The stainless steel sculpture is 12 feet tall. It looks like a kids' party balloon twisted into the shape of a dog.
It is one of a series of five, each in a different metallic color.
Christie's says newsprint magnate and art collector Peter Brant is selling it to raise money for his Brant Foundation Art Study Center in Greenwich, Conn.
Koons' "Tulips" sold last year at Christie's for $33.6 million, a record for the artist.
A Jeff Koons retrospective opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in January. It will travel to New York's Whitney Museum of American Art in June.
