(KSL News) -- A woman in Draper was killed as her three-year-old son watched. It happened a year ago tomorrow.
Her ex-boyfriend has just pleaded guilty to first degree murder.
Juan Diaz Arevalo and his girlfriend, Lindsey Fawson, broke up a few months before the murder. She went to his house to pick up some of her belongings. He hid in the trunk of her car.
When she got home he confronted her. They fought, then he shot her in the face.
Fawson's sister and young son saw it happen.
Arevalo ran away, but police found him the next day in South Jordan.
Arevalo is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. In exchange for pleading guilty, he won't be tried for entering America illegally. He faces up to life in prison.
