ST. GEORGE — A 48-year-old Washington City woman could spend the rest of her life in prison after she was sentenced for commandeering a police car at gunpoint in November.
The Spectrum reports that Jo Ann Boone was sentenced to a maximum of life in prison Thursday, two days after she was ordered to a 15-year term in federal prison on charges stemming from the same incident.
On Nov. 19, Boone was being taken to Washington County Jail. Her hands were cuffed behind her back when an officer let her out of the back seat. Police say that's when Boone pulled a handgun from her pants.
Authorities say she was able to get her cuffed hands in front of her and take the police car on a high-speed chase before the tires were deflated.
