Alex Cabrero reporting Can you believe it? A Saturday with no snow falling!

Residents along the Wasatch Front have been getting buried with snow during the past few weeks, but this weekend they had the chance to catch up on some outdoor chores.

The most popular activity today may have been washing the car. The car wash located near 300 West and 1400 South is one of the busiest places we've seen today. At times, cars were lined up 20 deep to get in. The line wrapped around the building almost into the street. But drivers we spoke with say they don't mind the wait because it's better than another snow day.

From yucky, dirty, grayish brown to shiny brilliance in just a few minutes. Sharlene Revie said, "I'm so excited that I can tell what color my car is again."

Sharlene was part of a line of cars that no parade would ever want. "Brown, black, guck and yuck," is how she described it. That is, until she finally got a chance to wipe away the mess by taking it to the car wash.

"It needed, really, some T.L.C.," said Ed Campos.

"It was so time, and it needed it," Sharlene agreed.

The place was packed. "Cars were lined up clear out onto the road to get in," said Nick Moulton.

Jeremy Thibeault said, "This is one of the busiest of the Saturdays." Thibeault directed cars in, gave them instructions, then did it all over again at least 1,000 times. "Keeps me busy. It's constant," he said.

John Thomson owns the Starwash car wash and says it has been averaging about 150 cars an hour. "Salt, birds, and black cars: They keep us busy."

Not only does this car wash get cars through pretty quickly, it also recycles all of its water. "We recycle about 75 percent of our water," Thomson said. "We heat the water and the drying area with our waste oil from our lube."

It keeps the environment a little cleaner and cars a whole lot cleaner, at least until the next snowstorm.

Ed Campos said, "I'm ready for the good weather to come. Something to look forward to."

With as much snow as we've received the past few weeks, many of us are looking forward to some warmer weather. But at least for today, even though it was still only in the 40s, it was good enough to get outside and get things done.
