Becky Bruce reportingA man is in jail after stabbing his neighbor's dog.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak says the neighbors have been bickering over the dog's barking for some time. But last night, it apparently was too much for Joshua MacFarlane.
"He took a kitchen knife, a butcher knife, went outside, waited by the fence. There's a missing slat in the fence, and so when the dog stuck its nose through the fence, he then slashed at the dog's nose or snout."
"MacFarlane could have handled this better. He could have gone to the owners, he could have called the sheriff's office, he could have called animal control, any number of people to try and solve this rather than taking it out on the dog," says Jaroscak.
The 5-year-old pointer named Sadie survived the attack but needed stitches. Deputies arrested Joshua MacFarlane. He's charged with animal cruelty.
